With the Summer coming to an end, and the rainy season just around the corner, the construction season is booming. You may have noticed quite a bit of street, bridge, and other general construction going on around town. I’m sure that this annoys most commuters, but you have to look at the big picture. These projects are generating local jobs, money and improving our communities infrastructure. There are a lot of federal dollars out there to spend and I’m glad to be a part of the action.

Interlaken recently finished a project for Kiewit Infrastructure working on the West side of the Portland Milwaukie Light Rail Transit Bridge. It was a great kick-off to the busy summer season. We are now about to start on another portion of the PMLR project, however this time we are under contract with Stacy and Witbeck/MOWAT, a joint venture. We will be doing some early prep work downtown getting things ready for the light rail to come through different areas of Portland. To read more about the PMLR project click here. Interlaken is very excited to be a part of this HUGE project. Building new light rail to connect Milwaukie to Downtown Portland is pretty awesome… not to mention building ANOTHER bridge over the Willamette River!

So when you see a construction crew out there blocking traffic don’t be annoyed, be thankful that they are improving YOUR City… one street at a time!
